Last week for kindergarten homework, the assignment was to make a Leprechaun trap. My kindergartner had so much fun going shopping and choosing super sparkly green paper to cover it with. He also loved going to the craft store and picking out some things to decorate it with. He wanted it to be as shiny as possible because Leprechauns really like shiny stuff. He also wanted to make sure we made a ladder because Leprechauns are very small. He worked on this trap for 5 hours. When he finished he said, "Do you think my teacher will think that mine is the best?" He was so proud of it. All week long he reminded everyone in the family not to eat the Lucky Charms because he was going to need them to feed to his Leprechaun when he brought it home. His teacher had each student write about what they would do if they caught a Leprechaun and my son wrote that he would get it to make money and give it to poor people.

Making the trap

Shiny inside the trap to keep the Leprechaun interested in staying, with a pot of Lucky Charms for a snack, and it is sticky inside so the Leprechaun can't escape

Today when I was driving on the freeway past my home I snapped a few pictures. A lot of people who know me have never seen where I grew up. This is a picture of my home, with the brown roof, the shop is in the middle of the picture, and my Grandparent's place is in the right side of the photo. I grew up in a very rural place, no stores or conveniences, just farms and very good neighbors.

Here is another photo of my home.

One year for my Mom's birthday gift, she got me! My birthday isn't just mine, I was born on my Mother's birthday and she has a twin, so I have always shared this day with someone. This year it was fun to travel home and be with my Mom and share our birthday together. We spent time doing some geneology together, and then we cooked together and had a nice little dinner party. My children were thrilled that Grandma found a few candles in the house for the cake.

When I returned home today I found a thoughtful little surprise at my doorstep. One of my new neighbors left this cute cupcake for me. Thanks!

Today my sister mentioned that they needed 8 valentines for pre-school. She asked me if there was anything that my cricut machiene could cut out that would work. We found these cute little heart boxes and cut them out for her. Then we embossed little hearts onto them. Erika and Austin had lots of fun helping. Erika punched out all of the paper lace and Austin pushed the repeat and cut button to cut out the little hearts for the handle. My neice was happy with her valentines and had fun putting the candy in them and writing on them for her class.

Here is the finished result.

Thursday we woke up to a big pile of snow in our yard. It was nice a powdery like the kind that would be nice for skiing. It sure took a lot of work to shovel it out of the driveway. It is beautiful here in the winter with the snow covered mountains and rooftops. Here is our snow covered rooftop.
